Great episode. And here I was worried that this was getting podfaded.

Thinking of zaphod's comments about the 'dark chess game'; anyone else getting the light/dark side duel vibe? BTW, Jack does the band disburbed know you're 'borrowing' Mr. Smiley? :)

I think Faeriedreamz has a good point about choice and consequence. The people of this world have come to believe they have no choices so can commit whatever atrocities they deem necessary because its "their path". The dominant paradigm in this fractured world is "stay on your path, listen to your guides, when your shiny sand runs out your time is up" Does it have to be this way? is Alice really a Messianic figure that is there to save this world or perhaps to martyr herself for it. whats with the god like chess game going on? I think our winged buddy is more then he seems. As a side...please don't run off Penelope...theres some good descriptive storytelling to be had there(evil grin ;> )

WOOOTTT!!! I have been eagerly been awaiting episode 11!!

I really like the female characters; they have a level of complexity that just rings true of reality. I also love the idea of dealing with choice.
We were talking about that recently in a church group, and the whole Genesis chapter 3 (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Genesis%203&version=31)and we discussed the fact that everyone in the story is responsible for their actions.
I think about Alice, and as much as I enjoy her character, some of her choices have not been wise. She is constantly held accountable for her actions; where as the other characters, such as Alex and Bob, were relying on Road Guides to be accountable to. I think that the paradigm is interesting, and I appreciate that even though Alice is the protagonist, she is not perfect, nor is she able to escape the consequences of her own choices.

Thanks for another wonderful episode!!
